The book "Easy Blood Lessons for Young Adults", published by our organization, received the 2023 Openbook Good Book Award from Openbook Review. In 2024, it was also selected for the "SDGs Taiwan Issues 100 Books List" by Openbook Review.
"Easy Blood Lessons for Young Adults" was recognized with the 2023 Openbook Good Book Award and subsequently included in the "SDGs Taiwan Issues 100 Books List" in 2024.
"Sustainability" is one of the hottest keywords today. It is not just a trending topic but has become an integral part of corporations, public sectors, environmental policies, and daily life. Awareness of sustainability is rising, shaping it into a lifestyle mindset that guides every action. The 17 core goals of sustainability serve as a roadmap for improving global issues related to the environment, economy, and society, driving collective efforts toward sustainability to create a better living environment and habits.
The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) act as a common language. Openbook Review, having hosted the Good Book Award for seven years, has promoted over 20,000 books. Many of these works address issues specific to Taiwan, such as environmental conservation, gender, healthcare, and social advocacy, reflecting the state of society at the time.
Openbook Review draws from its annual list of nominated and awarded books for the Good Book Award, supplemented by other notable works, to encourage readers to embrace the SDGs through reading. By promoting these books, it aims to inspire more readers to take action, focus on sustainable development, and contribute to tangible efforts.
"Easy Blood Lessons for Young Adults" was selected as one of the eight books under "SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being". The recommendation notes highlight: "This is a work with a clear mission, stated explicitly in the preface: it is a public health resource prepared in response to the challenges of low birth rates and an aging population. The aim is to guide young readers to understand the importance of blood donation, dispel myths and fears, and encourage them to voluntarily donate blood when they are eligible." Through the promotion of this selected book, it is hoped to foster the practice of blood donation, allowing the seeds of this idea to grow and ensuring a sustainable supply of blood through continued efforts.
