Taiwan Blood Services Foundation

The voluntary unpaid blood donation campaign in Taiwan began in 1974. The "Taiwan Blood Services Foundation" is currently the main blood donation organization in Taiwan, a national non-governmental (NGO), non-profit (NPO) public welfare group.

On January 1, 1990, pursuant to the regulations of the Medical Act, it was established by donations from the "Chinese Blood Donation Movement Association" on April 19, 1974, with the supervisory authority being the Department of Health, Executive Yuan (now the Ministry of Health and Welfare). Currently, the association, along with the blood donation centers in Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, employs over 1,200 medical, professional, and administrative staff to provide specialized blood donation services. To effectively carry out blood donation operations, there are 14 blood donation stations, 37 blood donation rooms, 13 permanent blood donation points, and 135 rural mobile blood donation points set up nationwide, providing convenient blood donation channels for donors and supplying over 99% of the medical blood used in the country.
