Reuse of Medical Waste

Turn medical waste into renewable resources for secondary use

Platelet collection set and white blood cell filters at blood centers are made from plastic medical waste. This project was implemented in June 2017 as a response to the concept of resource reuse and the promotion of a biomedical waste reuse project. The recycled materials are sterilized with high-temperature and high-pressure steam and processed into plastic fragments. Plastic manufacturers make pollution-free industrial products (such as triangle cones, car lamp housings, lamp sockets, electric fan blades, etc.) to achieve the purpose and value of secondary use of resources.

To promote the development of the domestic biotechnology industry, we provides blood products that are not suitable for transfusion for domestic biotechnology companies under the "Blood Products Unsuitable for Transfusion Project". This includes the supply of "positive plasma" and "overdue platelets" supplied to General Biologicals Corporation for use as raw materials for product testing; "expired plasma" provided to TBG Biotechnology for relevant verification and testing experiments in reagent development; "whole blood not suitable for transfusion" supplied to OBI Pharma Inc. for the development of new drugs for the purpose of validation of drug activity, the "nonconforming plasma" supplied to Metek Lab Inc. for the purpose of developing the RBCs antigen detection reagent. By doing this, we aim to promote the recycling and reuse of blood resources and achieve the purpose of waste reduction .
