Non-stop virus prevention

In order to provide high-quality blood products, we update the information on infection risk areas in real-time based on the international outbreak situation and recommendation levels announced by the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and information related to travel medicine, to ensure the safety of blood products from the source.

Prevention of Monkeypox (Mpox)

Efforts in virus prevention: Although the COVID-19 pandemic has subsided, we must not relax our pace in virus prevention. In response to the domestic Mpox outbreak, we have formulated the relevant control measures in accordance with the "Monkeypox Prevention and Control Manual" of the Centers for Disease Control on May 29, 2023, guarding the safety of blood use carefully.

Grasp medical blood demands and improve the quality of blood used by patients.

1. Balancing the supply and demand of blood

In order to achieve the goal of balanced blood donation, the "Blood Donation Coordination Committee" is convened every year to analyze and review the blood supply and demand situation, and to set the blood donation target for the following year.

2. Understanding the demand for medical blood usage

To keep abreast of medical blood demands, each blood center pays visits to hospitals from time to time for communication. Each blood center holds at least one "blood supply symposium" every year to exchange opinions with hospitals and regularly analyze the trend of blood use in hospitals. This is aimed to meet the actual demand of hospitals and make effective deployment of blood to fully utilize the blood resources. At the same time, the management of the blood inventory is strengthened to maintain the safe stock of blood products.

3.Enhancing the quality and safety of blood transfusions

To improve the quality and safety of blood for patients receiving transfusion and to reduce transfusion reactions, we have fully supplied Leucocyte-Poor Red Blood Cells before storage in 2022. At the same time, in order to improve the precision of blood transfusion service, we assist the clinical transfusion of long-term transfusion patients. We have continued to test the red blood cell antigens of blood donors, including E, e, C, c, M, Mia, Jka, Jkb and other antigens labelled on blood bags, in order to provide blood products with matching antigens and reduce the incidence of clinical hemolytic transfusion reactions.
