On November 13, 113th year "Societal Research Excellence Award" ceremony, the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation was honored with the Health Education Award under the Distinguished Features category, accepted by CEO Wei Sheng-Tang. The award was presented by Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare, Lin Ching-Yi.

In 112th year, the foundation published Taiwan's first illustrated science book on blood knowledge, tailored for teenagers, titled The Young Adult's Blood Lesson. It extensively promoted blood donation education, with educational campaigns held at blood donation centers across the country. Additionally, the book was donated to 736 junior high schools and 198 public libraries nationwide for public welfare.

Blood donation not only helps others but can also save the donor's life by uncovering unrecognized health alerts through screenings. In addition to tests for ALT, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, frequent donors are offered further examinations such as abdominal ultrasounds, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and glycated hemoglobin. This facilitates early detection and treatment. The foundation also assesses individual risks and refers cases for medical follow-up if needed. Among the cases referred in the 112th year, one donor was diagnosed with stage 0 colon adenocarcinoma (in situ cancer) and was cured following treatment, marking the nation's first case where a blood donor discovered and completely cured colon cancer through blood donation.

The "Societal Research Excellence Award" is divided into two main categories: talent development in research and medical social services. It includes one Comprehensive Excellence Award, two Category Excellence Awards, and seven Distinguished Features Awards. The awards recognize the remarkable contributions of medical foundations in research and development, talent training, health education, medical relief, community medical services, and various social services. The aim is to inspire these organizations to elevate their services and benefit society while maintaining medical excellence.
