Hosted by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), the “2025 4th Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo (2025 SDG Asia)” was grandly held from September 11 to 13 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. Under the theme “Charge Towards Change,” the expo brought together more than one hundred exhibitors from government, industry, academia, research institutions, and non-profit organizations, comprehensively showcasing Taiwan’s concrete actions and achievements in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and progressing toward net-zero carbon emissions.
The Taiwan Blood Services Foundation was invited to participate with two key initiatives: integrating blood donation with low-carbon transportation—“Sustainable Blood Supply, Sustainable Environment”—and “Advancing Donor Nucleic Acid Testing Toward the Milestone of Zero Transfusion-Transmitted Infections.” The “electric blood donation vehicle” made its debut at the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo, becoming a new highlight of sustainability. In addition to reducing carbon emissions, the electric blood donation vehicle features zero noise and zero exhaust emissions. This initiative was further recognized with the “Taiwan Sustainable Action Award,” marking an important milestone in sustainable development. Through on-site blood donation, educational interaction, and advocacy activities, the event invited the public to support low-carbon sustainability while safeguarding the medical blood supply—demonstrating that blood donation is not only an act of goodwill, but also a concrete practice of ESG principles and the promotion of the 2050 net-zero vision.
The Taipei Blood Center supported the event by dispatching the electric blood donation vehicle “Tucheng Central Rotary,” providing blood donation services on September 11–12 and exhibition tours on September 13. On September 11, Deputy Minister of Transportation Chen Yen-Po and Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Lin Ching-Yi visited the exhibition, followed by Deputy Minister of the Environment Yeh Chun-Hung on September 12—making it the only exhibition area visited by all three deputy ministers. During the event, international guests also came specifically to observe Taiwan’s electric blood donation vehicle, which became a major highlight of the expo. Over two days, a total of 91 people donated blood, contributing 133 units in total.

Chairman Hou Sheng-Mao of the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation made a special visit to the exhibition site.

CEO Wang Tsung-Hsi of the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation personally visited the blood donation vehicle to thank blood donors.

Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Lin Ching-Yi visited the electric blood donation vehicle and boarded it to encourage the nursing staff.

Deputy Minister of Transportation Chen Yen-Po also visited the site to learn about the electric blood donation vehicle, commended the integration of blood donation with low-carbon transportation, and tried the vehicle firsthand.

Deputy Minister of the Environment Yeh Chun-Hung (left) expressed strong approval of the environmental friendliness of the electric blood donation vehicle and also tried the donation chair to experience the blood donation workspace.

International guests visited the electric blood donation vehicle, hoping to take back their observations as a best-practice example of combining public welfare with sustainability.
