"With Passion and Service" Alternative Servicemen Break Through 40 Million cc of Blood Donations!

On December 11, 2024, at 2 PM, the Ministry of the Interior held the "2024 Second Half-Year National Alternative Service Outstanding Units and Servicemen Recognition Ceremony and Blood Donation Milestone Event" at the Hakka Cultural Park. The event was hosted by the Ministry's Chief Secretary, Huang Chun-Yi, with blood donation services provided on-site via bloodmobiles for the servicemen.

Since 2007, the Ministry of the Interior has encouraged alternative servicemen to engage in public service activities such as tutoring schoolchildren, caring for the elderly, and beautifying local communities. Blood donation activities by alternative servicemen have continued uninterrupted for 17 years. On this day, total blood donations by alternative servicemen surpassed 40 million ccs, with three servicemen, including the donor of the 40 millionth cc, recognized on stage as a surprise honor.

The Taiwan Blood Services Foundation was invited to the ceremony, where CEO Wei Sheng-Tang presented a token of appreciation to the Ministry's Alternative Service and Social Resilience Training Execution Center. The award was accepted on behalf of the center by Section Chief Li Cheng-Ming, in recognition of their efforts to promote blood donation over the years and for reaching the 40 million cc milestone.

On this day, three servicemen associated with the 40 millionth cc blood donation milestone were recognized, with awards prepared by the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation and presented by Shen Che-Fang from the Alternative Service and Social Resilience Training Execution Center. The three servicemen, Zhang Wei-En, Zhang Xin-Chen, and Zhou Huang-Zhen, were congratulated and rewarded for their enthusiastic participation at the event.

The ceremony also honored 65 outstanding alternative servicemen and seven exceptional service units. Additionally, nine servicemen who won the top three prizes in the alternative service literature and art competition were recognized for their creative works documenting their service experiences, highlighting the value of alternative service.
The event concluded with a musical performance by the Charity Ambassador Band, presenting a variety of pop songs with accompanying visuals to showcase the diverse services performed by alternative servicemen. Established in 2006, the Charity Ambassador Band has performed over 700 times, including at the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Taiwan's blood donation program. For this event, guest performers included singers Zhou Ding-Wei and Li You-Ting.

The performance began with Xu Guang-Han, an alternative serviceman, singing his original song "Where Do You Want to Go," followed by AcQUA member Huang Peng-Ming performing "Girl." The finale featured Xu Guang-Han and Huang Peng-Ming introducing all band members before jointly performing "No Music, No Life." The engaging performance created a lively atmosphere, with guests and servicemen capturing the moments on their phones, marking a memorable conclusion to the event.
