Today is Arbor Day, and the weather in Tainan is bright and beautiful. The Annan Blood Products Preparation Center, under the Kaohsiung Donor Center, held a tree-planting activity themed "Planting Hope, Launching the Future." A synchronized remote video link was conducted between Dr. Sheng-Mou Hou, Chairman of the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation, and Dr. Chi-Min Hung, Director of the Kaohsiung Donor Center. The ceremony was simple yet solemn, symbolizing that the Annan Blood Products Preparation Center will continue to grow from a small tree into a towering one. In the future, it aims to become Taiwan’s most advanced medical blood preparation center and a benchmark in Asia.

To celebrate the grand opening of the Annan Blood Products Preparation Center on June 4 this year (2026), and to demonstrate the Foundation's continuous investment and sustainable commitment to the medical system, the center organized the "Planting Hope, Launching the Future" event during this season of blooming flowers. Although Chairman Sheng-Mou Hou could not attend in person, he offered his blessings via video for the center's smooth success, safe launch, and a stable supply of blood products.

Invoking the proverb "It takes ten years to grow a tree but a hundred years to cultivate a person," Chairman Sheng-Mou Hou stated that just as a tree requires planting and fertilization to bear fruit, the human body relies on blood circulation to provide essential nutrients and oxygen to organs and tissues; both share the same significance. Entrusted by the public, the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation ensures the supply of various blood products. Today's ceremony at the Annan Center represents planting our hopes on one hand, and serves as a warm-up for the upcoming full-scale opening on the other. He also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Kaohsiung Donor Center for their efforts in completing the facility, which is currently undergoing small-scale operations.

For the event, the Kaohsiung Donor Center selected the Flame Gold-rain Tree (Koelreuteria henryi), a native Taiwanese species with resilient vitality. Its vibrant colors throughout the four seasons—tender green, golden yellow, fiery red, and bronze—reflect the various stages of life, symbolizing hope, optimism, abundance, and sustainability. The ceremony was conducted by Director Chi-Min Hung, Annan Center Director Chi-Te Lu, and Administrative Section Chief Kuo-Wei Ho, who performed the ceremonial shoveling and mulching.
