We have also garnered support from the President and local government leaders, who have led by example and rallied citizens to join the cause. Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the public and the combined efforts of various sectors in society, Taiwan’s national blood donation rate now ranks first in the world! Over the past 30 years, Taiwan has enjoyed a stable supply of medical-use blood. This success is due to the longstanding selfless dedication of our donors and community groups, as well as the tireless efforts of all our foundation’s staff. Looking back on our journey, we remain steadfast in our original mission to promote “happy donating, safe use” of blood. We will continue to uphold strict safety standards for medical-use blood. Looking ahead, we hope to work together to carry forward our core values and usher in another peak in blood donation services.

Video Description:Currently, Taiwan boasts the highest blood donation rate in the world, ensuring a stable supply of medical-use blood. However, it remains crucial to ensure that blood products are sufficient to support emergency situations without being constrained by import volume limitations or delivery times from manufacturing countries. In alignment with the "National Blood for National Use" health policy, the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation began collecting raw plasma in 2007, sending it to plasma fractionation facilities to produce domestically sourced blood products. Since 2008, these products have been supplied to meet the needs of the Taiwanese population. Using locally sourced blood for production not only reduces the risk of infections from foreign diseases but also allows the use of native antibodies to combat region-specific epidemics. This minimizes the risk of patients developing immune reactions caused by antibodies against foreign blood products. Additionally, it prevents shortages caused by international crises, enhancing the safety and stability of medical blood supplies.
